It’s no coincidence that I chose to launch this blog yesterday. Even though my planned content will mainly focus on my personal style adventures, there was a certain celebrity someone I’d hoped to occasionally cover for style inspiration. I’ve been following Kate Middleton’s style ascension for some time now and was eagerly awaiting her wedding day. As eagerly as if I actually know dear Kate personally, dare to dream.
As my “big day” approached, launch day, Kate was preparing for the biggest day of her life. Royal title. Dress of a lifetime. Adorable husband-to-be. Pomp and circumstance. And with only, oh, 2 billion onlookers chronicling her every move. Kind of a big deal.
Catherine, now Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge certainly did not disappoint. Not even a smidge. She was absolutely flawless and stunning - and I’m sure will still be described as such 10, 20, even 50 years from now. Now I won’t comment on the dress - as everyone and their mother, sister and dog already have!
But I will recount my reaction. When she exited the car and her sister Pippa arranged the train of the dress, I literally gasped out loud and couldn't breathe. Immediately, all sense of reason was lost and I sobbed like a schoolgirl. I had become the worst cliché: a single, 30-something female bawling at a TV wedding alone in her apartment. I felt a bit pathetic, but style perfection does that to me sometimes. Oh come on, just admit that you shed a few tears (or Noah’s Ark-worthy) as well. Just looking at the photos below still makes me a bit weepy.
So, dear readers, please welcome Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, to this blog. I have a sneaking suspicion that she’ll be making quite a few appearances here. In fact, I’ll be covering some other Royal Wedding details in bits and bobs over the next week. At the close of the Wedding of the Century, after all, how could you not? Keep checking back for my thoughts and how to find these style inspirations in your own fabulous life.
First up will be the takeaways from my Royal Wedding (re)Watch party – because you just can’t watch enough coverage! In the meantime, enjoy a few of my favorite Duchess photos of her arrival at Westminster Abbey. Stunning.
XOXO,
Jen
