Greetings readers and a good weekend to all! This weekend, I’m blogging straight from my Fire Island house, AKA my cool respite from the city. Today’s post is neither about what I’m wearing nor any special sales (although there are many right now), but rather about a celebrity’s recent style rant. I’m speaking specifically about “celebrity” Kim Kardashian, or Kim Karda$hian as I like to call her.
Ah, the Kardashians…what a love/hate relationship I have with Kris Jenner’s Klan! I am mildly obsessed with their flagship show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”, mostly for the unintended comedic value. And knowing the kold, kalculating ways of the Kardashian den mother, I can only imagine what’s next in the empire:
“Kendall & Kylie’s Kute, Kuddly Adventures”, “You Stay Klassy, Kris Jenner” or “Rob Kardashian: Why doesn’t my name start with a K? I feel so kranky!”
So, the latest Kardashian kontroversy involves what has been dubbed as the “Kim Fauxdashian” incident. For those unaware of this, a model who looks somewhat like Kim K. was cast for a February Old Navy commercial. There was a good deal of hoopla and discussion when the commercial first premiered – that Old Navy purposely hired this girl to parody Miss K, which subsequently set off the Kardashian PR machine.
Luckily, it died down a few weeks later and Old Navy moved on to their next hit ad. Yet, the Kardashian engine didn’t milk this enough and has recently resurfaced the “issue”. Please tell me, does this Faux Kim look like the real Kim? My thoughts: eh, a bit, but a prettier, more natural version:

Here is the gist of the situation: https://www.brandchannel.com/home/post/2011/07/20/Kim-Kardashian-vs-Old-Navy.aspx
Now, while I find the Kardashians to be unreasonable about business most of the time, this scenario is just off the krazy charts. According to TMZ, Kim is reportedly suing Old Navy somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-20 Million. $15 to $20 MILLION AMERICAN DOLLARS? She has clearly entered delu$ional territory.
I generally find that US Citizens sue each other for ridiculous reasons, with this example serving as one of the most ridiculous. You may find yourself asking, “Miss Kardashian, why are you suing Old Navy for that outrageous number”. Well, she has somehow determined with her high school math that Old Navy has damaged her brand by that amount.
I’m sorry, but what IS the Karda$hian brand at its core anyway? The primary PR engine for the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” premiere was the “leak” of Kim’s sex tape. With a D list celebrity. I won’t say any more about this.
As far as the brands they endorse: Quick Trim, Carl’s Jr., Skechers? Really? $20 Million? REALLY?!?! (In the words of Seth & Amy) Are you not getting enough money and publicity from your upcoming nuptials?
$omeone needs to $top this in$anity immediately. The end. : )
