As I eyed the weather forecast earlier this week, I realized the city was likely to experience its last true summerlike days on Tuesday and Wednesday. And voila, the weatherman was actually right on the mark this time. You could literally feel the temperature plummeting Thursday afternoon and yesterday morning’s run was a very brisk 50 degrees. Summer 2012, I pine for you already.
With this change of seasons on the horizon, I decided to work from Bryant Park on Wednesday and planned my daily outfit with the utmost care. It was time to give some comfy summer dresses one last spin.
I’d recently purchased a cute gray & black striped cotton dress from H&M at the low, low price of $12.90. My original intent was to transition it into fall with tights and a blazer, but on Wednesday, it was calling my name. And what a siren this dress became.
I paired it with my favorite belt from REISS, which provided a nice pop of color against the dark neutrals. I bought the belt during my 2009 Dublin trip for around $60, half the usual price and worth every penny. Also, I donned my trusty Kathryn Amberleigh sandals and some fun earrings from Ben Amun - both picked up for a steal on Gilt over the years. Here’s a photo of the entire look…
Overall, it was the perfect choice for the day. Stylish, yet comfortable enough to schlep around the city and work from Bryant Park. But even more importantly, it elicited quite the reaction. The guy I’ve been dating works right by the park and met me for lunch to enjoy the sunshine. His exact words? Smoking Hot. (Blush)
Who knew a mere twelve dollars and ninety cents could go the distance like that? I was a little surprised, but hopefully the dress will transition into Fall just as well as this summer romance seems to be.
